The Art of
Afro
Movement

Why Yunaisy
Farray?

Why Different
01Formally trained, then came to salsa

Ballet from age five; graduate of Cuba's national school of contemporary dance. One of the few salsa maestras who can explain why the body moves the way it does.

02Afro-Cuban as a body manual

Not a genre — a way of using your body: how to move it, express it across music, let it flow without pain, and carry emotion.

03From beginners to pros

Six of the eleven classes are All Level or intro-friendly. She teaches the principles that get beginners dancing.

04Feminine movement, made beautiful

Arm technique, hips, spins, heel work, body expression. Expression and musicality come before complex figures.

I have taken many rumba classes from Cuban dancers, but this was the first time I was taught with this much detail and structure. At the demo, people simply cried — tears coming just from watching someone dance is a different dimension altogether.

FROM BUSAN

Notes from Busan

Before Seoul, she taught three days in Busan. These are the notes people left afterwards.

Thank you Basara for such a precious time, and a big round of applause to Mau, who ran every part of the event perfectly. Above all — Yunaisy, now my best teacher, who taught with such care and detail. I learned so much and was so happy. Already waiting for the next workshop — please invite her back to Korea! The captivating, beautiful demo at the end was the highlight; it brought me to tears.
A class that connects the body’s energy, music, emotion and technique — so valuable. I had wished I could learn how to use my body systematically, rather than just technique, and it was an honor to finally find it. Can’t wait for tomorrow.
Every class was great, but today’s rumba class was the best. I’ll practice hard.
What an experience. To take a rumba class in Busan — not Cuba, not Spain.
Her teaching sank into every corner of my body and finally brought me to my senses. Those three days felt like a journey to the source — the spirit, philosophy and culture inside the dance itself, and as a student, the flow, energy and mindset of the body. A new and meaningful experience. I need to study Spanish properly and build some calluses on my soles.
Watching her dance I found myself in hot tears — everything inside me swirled up and, by the end, I felt cleansed like a blank page. The smile on her face while she demonstrated rumba still rings in my chest. I think I am about to fall deep into Afro.
It had been a long time since I trained from the basics and sweated like my whole body was on fire.
Three days. It felt like going abroad to enjoy the finest living culture I could reach. Story, life, history, culture, people — and dance. Hearing it, seeing it, feeling it, and trying it myself. And above all, sharing it with people who feel the same way.
HER WORDS

Her words

Philosophy
When was the last time you felt like a woman? For over twenty years I have watched women walk into my studio with their bodies switched off. It is not age, kids or work — it is that no one ever taught them femininity is not something you think, it is something you move. It is not that you are not sensual; you just put it away so it would not bother anyone. What went out from disuse lights up again with use. The body never lies.
First of all, learn the technical foundations properly. A good structure makes a dancer solid enough to bloom to their fullest.
Once truly learned, the body follows on its own and you stop thinking about technique. That is when the magic happens. Real freedom.
Verdadera libertad.
When each knows their role, everything flows — like a conversation without words. Bodies speak, understand, exchange, and dance.
Whatever you dance, there are four positions you must know: inclination, elevation, suspension, relaxation — and they work on any floor.
Korea is reminding me that dance knows no language and no borders. All it needs is connection, truth and heart.
It is not just dancing. It is becoming who you want to be.
No es solo bailar. Es convertirte en quien quieres ser.
